“enTANGLEment”

art inspired by science

opening reception

September 10, Saturday  6–10pm

LOS ANGELES, CA –  Trunk Gallery is pleased to present “enTANGLEment,” an exhibition of artworks inspired by science created by artists and scientists alike.  The exhibition will be open to the public beginning Thursday, September 1, 6–10 pm, in conjunction with the Mar Vista Art Walk.

The opening reception will be held Saturday, September 10, from 6–10 pm.  It is free and open to the public.  The exhibition runs through Sunday, September 25, 2016.

An eclectic group of scientists and artists have been assembled who create art inspired by science.  Participating in the exhibition are Ann Erpino, Amy Helene, Randi Hokett and Cris Orfescu.  Among the artworks on display will be NanoArt, painting, encaustic with crystals, mosaics and photography.

Ann Erpino  –   http://www.annerpino.com/

Ann is inspired by the beauty and power of nature.  She paints scenes of nature's interface with culture, and its inevitable domination over civilizations.  She is a self-taught student of quantum theory and cosmology, which she uses to depict the wave nature of matter and images of interconnectedness.

Amy Helene  –   http://www.artamyhelene.com/

With a Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, the “science” influence is evident in Amy's mosaics which she creates with acrylics, western blot film, broken records and paper.

Randi Hokett  –   http://randihokettfineart.com/home.html

Randi works in encaustic, mixed media, sculpture and installation – much of her artwork utilizes crystals.  She uses isolation/connection, lust/love, birth/rebirth, beauty/pain, geology and plate tectonics as metaphors for the body, and the junctures between light and dark.

Cris Orfescu  –   http://crisorfescu.com/

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Cris is a scientist who has been experimenting and perfecting the art form “NanoArt” for the past 30 years.  “Nanotechnology deals with the synthesis and manipulation of matter at sub-100 nanometers level.  I bring the small world in front of my audience by visualizing with a scanning electron microscope the nanolandscapes I discover at atomic and molecular scales and the nanosculptures I create by chemical and physical processing.”  In doing so, Cris raises awareness for Nanotechnology and its impact on our lives.

The gallery will be open Saturdays and Sundays, 11–5 pm through September 25, 2016.
